Everyday Life
Days & Weeks

Each of the Airtha months is generally refereed to as a 'moon' and a fortnight (fourteen nights) is often called a 'half-moon' - though the term 'fortnight' is slowly becoming more widespread amongst the humans. Each 'half-moon' is split into two 7 day weeks (or 'quarter-moons' - though this term is not used often), the real-word equivalents of which can be found opposite.

Note that Sunday (sometimes referred to as ‘Soldeus Day’ by followers of that particular deity) is usually considered a day of rest.

Phases of the Moon

The first day of the month always falls on a Middleday and is heralded by a new moon (No.1 in the diagram above). The days that follow see the waxing crescent moon (2) rise in the night sky - until the following Middleday, when the moon enters it's first quarter phase, and the waxing half moon (3) is visible. Similarly the full moon (5), and the waning half moon (7) also appear on a Middleday.

Note that the elves (who hold the moon goddess in greater reverence than
the sun god) consider nights when the full moon is visible as blessed times.
