Everyday Life
Coinage

The most common coins in circulation at this time are the golden crown, the silver shilling, and the copper penny. All of these coins weigh approximately one third of an ounce (around 50 coins to the lb.), with the crown being roughly half the size of the shilling and the penny.

The crown is a small golden coin that is the Airtha equivalent of the D&D gold piece. One crown is worth ten shillings or one hundred pennies.

The shilling is a medium-sized silver coin that is the Airtha equivalent of the D&D silver piece. One shilling is worth ten pennies, and ten shillings are worth one crown.

The penny is a medium-sized copper coin that is the Airtha equivalent of the D&D copper piece. Ten pennies are worth one shilling, and one hundred pennies are worth one crown.

In addition to these coins, though less common, are the golden sovereign and the mithril star.

The sovereign is a medium-sized golden coin that weighs twice as much as standard coins (around 25 sovereigns to the lb.) and is worth twenty shillings or two crowns.

The rare mithril star is a large, lightweight, coin (weighs approximately one third of an ounce) that is worth ten crowns. The star is the Airtha equivalent of the D&D platinum piece.

As well as coins, silver trade bars are also used as a form of currency and come in weights of 1 lb. to 10 lb. (worth 5 crowns to 50 crowns respectively).
