It has been approximately one thousand years since the first human settlers appeared in Brimdenn, and since that time they have spread far and wide. Most of these originated from Gárdor in the east, though some there were that came from the south - fleeing from an unknown terror of which they would not speak.

These 'southerners' were, in general, less tall than the men of Gárdor, and darker - though over the centuries the mingling of both kindreds has been to such an extent that the men of Brimdenn are now considered one people (despite their individual kingdoms).

In the south of the continent can be found the Kingdoms of Alor and of The Éastwold, with their capitals located at Micelburg and Langseld respectively. However, it is said that the men of Micelburg had the friendship and the aid of the high-elves of Olor in earlier days, so that they surpassed all other men in matters of skill and lore. And so it was that Micelburg was accounted greatest of the cities of men (and so it remains - though to a lesser extent than it once was), and its people well blessed.

It is also told that King Cyrten the fair - the first lord of that people (he whom the elves named Megilion - for he was also a great warrior) took an elven wife to be his queen, and as such he is one of the few of the race of men who has passed the ‘ring of enchantment’ and has set foot upon the hidden isle of the high-elves.

And so it was that those of the line of the king were, for many generations, fair of face and long lived - though in these latter days the span of their years has dwindled to little more than that of the rest of the populus. Indeed, the line of the kings has remained intact throughout the centuries, so that the house of Megilion has continuously reigned in Micelburg to this very day.

In Langseld men may have been less learned in matters of lore than those in the west - though what they lacked in wisdom they more than compensated for with riches; for in the first century of the founding of The Éastwold, much gold was sought (and found) in the mountainous region upon the eastern cost of that land. The Goldóra Mountains they were named in latter days for just that reason, and though most of the mines and river beds have long since yielded what wealth they once contained, there are some folk that still scratch out a living in such pursuits.
